Roxy and Steve Winterburn, along with the rest of the family back in Yorkshire, were great to deal with as part of the Emmeline Pankhurst statue project. They were unique on the shortlist - a daughter and father team. Their design for the statue scored well with the general public and the selection panel but ultimately we opted for another sculptor.

I would have no hesitation in working with them again on other projects. I really appreciated being invited over to their studio and foundry and that was my first actual experience of bronze pouring.

They really engaged in the selection process accepting that it was a highly competitive situation. They came down as a family to the Houses of Parliament for the initial launch of the designs, really seemed to enjoy the question and answer session at HOME in Manchester and meeting all my fellow Councillors in the Town Hall.

When it comes to producing a statue that would evoke the spirit and feeling of a Yorkshire Regiment from the 1960s and in our case we wanted a "Soldier dressed in Jungle fatigues" . There are many Foundry's that talk a good game, but Stephen and Joy Winterburn of Yorkshire Fine Arts really help you make it happen. They have produced a "Soldier on Patrol in the Malaysian jungles" so full of life and movement it almost "jumps" off its plinth.

It is so universally liked by our Regiment that it has gained a 100% approval rating amongst its supporters and those who were initially unsure of the design selected. It also gained over 300 positive comments following a recent Radio Sheffield phone in.

It has given myself and my colleagues the confidence that our unveiling and dedication ceremony will be not only successful but will evoke memories and reflection of comrades no longer with us. Exactly what it was intended to do.

Thank you Stephen, Joy and your very talented Family at Yorkshire Fine Arts

Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry

The Billy Boston Statue Trust set out to have a sculpture of Wigan's best known sporting hero. When we set out trying to find a suitable artist, we decided on Steve Winterburn from Yorkshire Fine Arts. His enthusiasm to do it at a price we could realistically afford, along with his previous track record, made him the obvious choice. His work is everlasting proof that we made the right decision.

Working with YFA has been a privilege and the town of Wigan would gladly adopt Steve as one of its own, along with the rest of the YFA team. The finished product stands at the highest point in the town, and everyone who views it comments on the intricacy of the detail, the lifelike posture and the quality of the work.

If ever the members of our Trust were to look at doing another bronze sculpture in the future, we would always turn to Yorkshire Fine Arts first. We are indebted to them.
